WAYS TO GET A WEBSITE

There is no single right way to buy a website. Compare the same things each time: the scope, who does the work, what is billed again later, and what you keep if you stop paying anyone.

Common ways contractors get a website
OptionHow it is pricedWhat to check before you choose
Build it yourself on a website builderUsually a recurring plan with the builder platformThe time you will spend writing, building and updating; which features need a higher plan; whether you can move the site elsewhere later.
Hire a freelancerUsually quoted per project or per hourWhat is written into the scope; who writes the copy; who handles changes and fixes after launch.
A one-time package from a studio or agency (how we work)A fixed price for an agreed scopeExactly which pages and features are included; how many revision rounds; what happens after launch.
A monthly website subscriptionA recurring fee for the site and the services bundled with itWhat the fee includes; the minimum term; what you keep, and what happens to the site, if you cancel.
An agency with an ongoing marketing retainerA build fee, a recurring retainer, or bothWhich work is the build and which is ongoing; reporting; how either side can end the agreement.

Every option can be the right fit for a particular business. Ask for the answers in writing, whichever you choose. Weighing a builder? Read Wix or Squarespace vs a custom site.

WHAT GOES INTO THE TOTAL COST

The build is one line. List every part, then ask which are one-time, which repeat, and who pays each provider.

We don't publish figures for domain, hosting or tool costs here, because they depend on the providers and plans chosen. For your project, we disclose the required third-party costs before you pay.

BASIC SEO SETUP VS. ONGOING SEO

"SEO included" can mean very different things. Here is exactly what our packages cover.

What SEO work our packages include

TIMELINE, REVISIONS AND PAYMENT

Most standard builds take about 10 business days once the required details, materials, access and approvals are ready. We confirm your project's timeline in writing. You don't need to be local: we work with contractors anywhere in the US, mainly by email, and build the site around your own service area.
